Skip the fast food. There’s no reason why anybody should eat more than one time out at a fast food restaurant every week. Yes, eating once every few days may be okay, but when taking care of an elderly family member, there may very well be time to make a quick 15 or 20 minute meal. That way, the caregiver can sit down and eat it with the senior, providing them conversation and companionship that can be beneficial for both.
Make time for exercise. Even though a person may be incredibly busy, there’s no reason they can’t stop what they’re doing and exercise for 15 solid minutes. A solid, 15 minute cardiovascular workout gets the heart rate elevated, burns calories, and does wonders for the body.
Spend time with other loved ones. Never give up things that are important. If there is simply not enough time to do everything and still take care of that loved one, they can consider hiring a professional caregiver. Just one or two days a week can be more than enough to help take care of themselves in a better way.
