In August Catherine Griffin of Mederi Caretenders, a Medicare certified home health agency, partnered with Tammy Davis of Treasure Coast Home Health Care, a Florida licensed, private duty nurse registry at the Indo-American doctors annual convention held at the St Lucie Civic Center to educate doctors to the benefits of home health care for their patients.
They explained to the doctors how they can, working as a team, provide complete home care for ill patients, or patients returning from a hospital or rehab. Often these services mitigate the issues the patient returning home faces, as well providing specific care plans that prevent reoccurrences and help the patient recover more quickly and thrive. Also their families receive, timely status updates and general information on their loved ones progress and changes.
Mederi provides skilled nursing care covered by Medicare – physical therapy, occupational therapy, wound care, psychological services and basic nursing assessment in the comfort and safety of the patient’s home. Treasure Coast provides supplemental personal care services. These including assistance with daily living such as ambulating, assistance with showering, toileting, medications, complete light housekeeping, meals prep , laundry, assistance with personal hygiene, trips to the doctor, shopping and other day to day needs. These services are paid by longterm care insurance, some life insurance policies, VA benefits and private funds.
