Senior Care in Port St. Lucie
As March is National Nutrition Month, we have decided to put together a wonderfully delicious meal for those who require some type of senior care. Getting proper nutrition begins by eating healthy foods, but that doesn’t mean they all have to be bland and boring.
This particular recipe is for Glazed Salmon and the particular protein here, the salmon, contains omega-3 fatty acids which are incredibly important for daily nutrition for people of all ages, including seniors.
How to make this recipe.
What you will need:
1/3 cup reduced sodium soy sauce
1 tablespoon of grated fresh ginger root
1 clove of garlic,
¼ cup hoisin sauce
1 tablespoon of chili garlic sauce
2 tablespoons of olive oil
6 boneless, skinless salmon fillets
2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice
How to prepare this delicious recipe.
Preheat the oven to 350°F or 175°C. Take a 9 x 13” baking dish and whisk together the hoisin sauce, chili sauce, soy sauce, lemon juice, garlic, ginger, and olive oil. You want to whisk this until it is completely blended together.
Carefully place the salmon fillets into this marinade and then turn each of them over to coat evenly. Take plastic wrap and cover the dish to allow the salmon to marinate in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
Once the oven has been preheated, you want to remove the plastic wrap from the salmon and then use a spoon to drizzle the marinade back over the salmon from the bottom of the dish.
Place the dish in a preheated oven for approximately 30 minutes. The salmon should begin to flake easily when you use a fork to test them.
You can serve the salmon with a variety of other items, but a nice brown rice is a great complement to this dish. As for vegetables, consuming more green vegetables and fruit is a great way for seniors to get the proper level of nutrition they need. For this dish, a simple side dish of broccoli can be a great additive. In order to prepare broccoli best, use a steamer and steam them for approximate five minutes until they are soft enough to be pierced by a fork.
Remove the broccoli from the steamer and add a dab of butter for flavor and then serve with the salmon.
